Vendor sites support the Bid Optimization module by allowing suppliers to model material costs and sourcing options from third-party providers.
Common Use Cases
1. Asphalt Plant Material Sourcing
By setting up vendor sites in BulkSource, suppliers can:
- Include vendor locations in the Bid Optimization algorithm
- Model mix designs that rely on vendor-sourced materials
- Evaluate cost-effective sourcing options when internal materials are unavailable or not price-competitive
For example, if a mix design requires sand but your internal source is not competitively priced or conveniently located, you can designate a vendor site as the source for that material.
2. Cost List Module Integration
The Cost List module within Bid Optimization stores vendor pricing by product and site. This allows BulkSource to calculate accurate input costs when building quotes or evaluating project profitability.
3. Ready-Mix Designs with External Sources
Vendor sites allow suppliers to model the true cost structure of their mix designs, even when key inputs come from third parties.
Vendor Site Configuration
When setting up vendor sites:
- Create the vendor as a company record
- Assign sites to that vendor company
- Designate vendor sites as source locations for mix design inputs only
