Credit Card Convenience Fees
Credit card convenience fees are processed separately from supplier invoices for the following reasons:
- Fees are paid to the payment processor, not to the supplier. These charges cover the cost of processing card transactions and are remitted directly to the payment processing provider.
- Invoices reflect the true accounts receivable balance between the customer and supplier. Separating convenience fees ensures that invoice amounts accurately represent the cost of goods and services.
- Convenience fees are a payment method charge, not part of the underlying transaction. They apply only when customers choose to pay by card rather than through other methods like ACH or check.
Customer Notification
When paying by credit card, either at the point of sale or through the BulkSource Customer Portal, customers are clearly notified of the convenience fee before completing the transaction. This ensures transparency about the total amount that will be charged.
