The Sites module is a foundational component of BulkSource’s Material Sales platform. It impacts several downstream workflows, including price lists, quoting, ticketing, and dispatch.
Sites represent your internal operational locations. These are not project sites. Examples include:
- Quarries or material distribution yards
- Asphalt or concrete plants
- Dispatch locations for internal or third-party trucking
A single site may serve one, two, or all three of these functions. Based on how a site is designated, BulkSource prompts for additional required or optional information that drives downstream behavior.
Core Site Fields
- Operating Company – In most cases, this will be your company. The system also supports tracking vendor or third-party locations if needed. This will be discussed in other articles.
- Site Name
- Internal ID – An internal reference identifier.
- DOT ID – Used when sites are registered with a Department of Transportation and required for reporting or eTicketing workflows.
- Entity – Each site rolls up to an Entity, which typically represents the legal or operational division of your organization (for example, Aggregates, Asphalt, or Ready Mix).
- Address or Latitude/Longitude – Once entered, the map pin can be adjusted to a precise location.
- Status – Active sites can be used in quotes, orders, and tickets. Inactive sites are retained for historical purposes but cannot be used in new workflows.
- Site Phone Number, Operating Hours, and Operating Days – Currently optional fields that will be increasingly utilized as advanced Dispatch and TMS features are rolled out.
Site Type Designations
- Material Distribution Site
Indicates the site produces or distributes material. Two sub-options are available:- Source for Standalone Product Quotes – Allows sales teams to quote products directly from this site.
- Source Location for Mix Designs – Indicates the site supplies raw material only, typically feeding an asphalt or concrete plant, but is not a direct sales location.
Dispatch Site (for Fleet Dispatch)
Identifies locations where internal or third-party fleets are dispatched. This designation supports dispatch recommendations and job assignments. This section designates which logistics providers operate from or are dispatched out of a specific site. BulkSource uses this information in the Fleet Dispatch module to recommend truck assignments based on location and availability.
- Plant Site
Indicates that mix designs or compound products are produced at the site, such as an asphalt or ready-mix plant. These sites typically receive inbound materials in addition to shipping outbound tickets.
Additional Site Settings
- Tax Jurisdiction – Used for FOB or customer pickup scenarios. If the customer is not tax exempt, the site’s tax jurisdiction determines how tax is calculated. This will be the default tax jurisdiction for pick-up projects that are not tax exempt.
- Default Retail Price List – Used for retail or miscellaneous ticketing scenarios when a customer is not preconfigured. This defines base pricing for walk-up or non-account purchases.
