This procedure allows you to charge customers for hauler wait time and ensure haulers are paid for their waiting time, even when they've already been paid for hauling tonnage.
- When a hauler is placed on hold/waiting at a job site
- When wait time needs to be added to an existing ticket where the hauler was already paid for hauling
Adding Wait Time to a Ticket
- Create a "Haul Only" product in your system with the following settings:
- Product Name: Haul Only (or similar identifier)
- Product Cost: $0.00
- (Optional) Create a new Freight Zone for wait time pricing
- Name it something clear like "Wait Time - 1 Hour" or "Waiting Charge"
- Set the pricing structure:
- This allows you to charge a flat rate per load (per wait time occurrence)
- For example: $50/load for one hour of wait time
- Use the Additional Items feature on the ticket
- Select the material, choose the "Haul Only" code
- Enter the Hauling Cost, there are two options:
- Select Freight Zone
- Enter Rates (these are based on $/UoM of the "Haul Only" product):
- Haul Rate: Enter the rate you want to charge the customer for wait time
- Pay Rate: Enter the rate the hauler should be paid for wait time
- The system will multiply these rates by the quantity you entered
- Using the examples above: 2 × $50 = $100 customer charge, 2× $40 = $80 hauler payment
